What Is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis occurs when the sinus cavities become inflamed or blocked, often due to infection, allergies, or structural problems.

It can present as:

  • Acute sinusitis – short-term, often following a cold
  • Chronic sinusitis – symptoms lasting more than 12 weeks
  • Recurrent sinusitis – repeated episodes of sinusitis with symptom-free periods in between
