Profile

Dr Livia Teo is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist who graduated on the Dean’s list from the National University of Singapore and was awarded book prizes in Surgery and Dermatology. She obtained Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. She received gold medals as the top candidate in Oculoplastic and Adnexal Disease as well as Corneal and Refractive Surgery. She is a recipient of the Health Manpower Development Plan award, and further advanced her training and completed Oculoplastics Fellowships at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, USA and Severance Hospital, Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea.

Dr Teo has expertise in managing a range of eye conditions including cataract, glaucoma, retina conditions like age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, myopia and dry eyes. She has a special interest in paediatric and adult ptosis and related eyelid conditions like entropion, epiblepharon, chalazions and eyelids tumours. She also specialises in ophthalmic plastics and reconstructive surgery of the face and orbit and manages orbital conditions  e.g. thyroid eye disease, fractures and tumours of the orbit, and performs lacrimal surgery for blocked nasolacrimal ducts and lacrimal duct tumours. She also performs regular eye screening for common eye diseases.

She was a former senior consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre. She also served as the Head of the Ophthalmic Imaging Department at the centre.

She is a member of the Singapore Medical Association, Singapore Society of Ophthalmologists, Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Singapore Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Council, and Association of Women Doctors.
