Dr Elton Tay is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist who holds dual accreditation with the Singapore Specialist Accreditation Board in both Ophthalmology and Aviation Medicine. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2003 and obtained the post-graduate Diploma in Aviation Medicine from King’s College London in 2006, where he was awarded the Stewart Memorial Prize. Dr Tay obtained his fellowship in Ophthalmology with the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and also completed an additional clinical fellowship training in Glaucoma at Lions Eye Institute in Australia. 

Dr Tay has expertise in managing a range of eye conditions including cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, myopia, presbyopia and dry eyes. He has a special interest in Glaucoma, encompassing glaucoma screening, and the management of glaucoma with medication, lasers, minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS), as well as other glaucoma surgeries such as trabeculectomy and tube surgeries. Dr Tay also manages Ophthalmology conditions in aviation related aircrew and ground crew.

Dr Elton Tay served as the Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at Woodlands Health (NHG Health), and also previously worked in the Tan Tock Seng and Khoo Teck Puat Hospitals. Dr Tay was also Chair of the Implant Committee, as well as Clinical Director of the Sustainability Office at Woodlands Health. Dr Tay was also Adjunct Assistant Professor with the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Dr Tay is an appointed medical assessor of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s Medical Board (CAMB) and conducts medical board reviews for commercial aircrew and civilian air traffic controllers, in addition to providing Ophthalmology specialist advice to the CAMB for complex cases.
